Now, thanks to advanced technology in dermatology laser treatments, gentle skin resurfacing done by Clear + Brilliant™ can make this goal easy to obtain! At In My Own Skin Med Spa, we are happy to offer both the Clear + Brilliant Perméa hand piece and the Original hand piece. With the Perméa, the skin’s permeability is enhanced, allowing for an increased benefit of topical skin care products, which are applied throughout the treatment.
WHAT IS CLEAR + BRILLIANT?
Clear + Brilliant™ is designed to deliver powerfully precise laser energy over the desired treatment area, resulting in a refreshing boost. When treated, new skin will start to form within 24 hours of treatment, but will remain covered by the old superficial layer of the skin. This new skin formation is temporary and can feel a bit like non-visible sandpaper. This usually lasts about 4 days, but can be longer for some skin types. During that time, the skin’s natural exfoliation process will reveal the newly repaired skin tissue.
The Clear + Brilliant treatment is one of the most gentle skin resurfacing laser procedures approved by the FDA. It uses soft laser energy to help generate the growth of new collagen on the skin. This leads to an improved appearance to skin, skin tone, and pigmentation. With the Original hand piece penetrating the skin to a deeper level, this procedure can help eliminate the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone and texture.

Clear + Brilliant is designed to resurface and improve the overall look of the skin on the following areas:

It can also be used to eliminate the appearance of age spots or sunspots, brown patches, acne scars, and large pores. This treatment helps improve skin texture and tone, allowing for a smooth, radiant look to the skin. Treatment can also be provided to the back of hands!
Clear + Brilliant will benefit patients in overall good health who are most interested in obtaining clearer, smoother skin. Ideal candidates for this laser treatment will typically not have active acne and a generally healthy skin-care routine that can help your healing regimen.
If you have been on Accutane in the last 12 months or are currently taking it, this procedure is not right for you. Patients who are prone to keloid formations or those who have excessive scarring are also not recommended for this treatment. Laser treatments are also not recommended for people who are pregnant or nursing.
Patients will see changes to their skin immediately after their Clear + Brilliant treatment. Although it will take up to one week for the skin to fully heal and rejuvenate, you will notice a smoother, fresher, more radiant surface to your skin. These results can last up to several months with the proper skincare routines. It is recommended to have a series of 3 Clear + Brilliant procedures provided every 4-6 weeks, depending on your unique treatment plan to achieve best results. Patients can maintain their results with further treatment every few months.
PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
- Avoid facial shaving/waxing and active skincare products such as Retinol, Tretinoin/Retin-A, Vit C, Glycolic/Salicylic acid, exfoliants, etc. that could be irritating for 7 days prior. No essential oil use 5-7 days prior.
- Wait at least 2-3 weeks after any chemical peel, laser, microneedling, Botox or filler prior to treatment.
- Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and artificial tanning products 10-14 days prior to treatment.
- Avoid blood thinners 2-3 days prior to treatment (ibuprofen, fish oil, Aspirin, turmeric, etc.)
- Please inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores, skin cancer or any active infections.
- If you need to cancel/reschedule your appointment, please provide a 48 hour notice to avoid any fees.
POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
- Redness/swelling/tenderness is normal, and can last up to 3-5 days after treatment.
- Darkening of brown spots or “coffee grounds” can occur, do not pick/peel skin if this occurs.
- Sunscreen (SPF 30+) should be applied regularly and make up can be applied on top the next day.
- Sun and tanning/tanning products should be avoided 1-2 weeks after.
- Avoid swimming, vigorous exercise, hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms for 48 hours.
- Avoid facial shaving/waxing and active skincare products such as Retinol, Tretinoin/Retin-A, Vit C, Glycolic/Salicylic acid, exfoliants, etc. that could be irritating for 7 days after.
