What is the VISIA® Skin Analysis System?
The VISIA® Skin Analysis System uses facial imaging technology to analyze each patients skin health and visual appearance. Our VISIA system provides patients with a quantitative analysis and visual assessment to take home. After your VISIA scan, a printed report will provide details of your session and recommended skin care options, along your TruSkin age® and percentile scores.
What is TruSkin age®?
The TruSkin Age® tool compares a patient's facial skin features to a large database of their peers to calculate their respective skin age. For example, a 40 year old woman whose skin is in perfect condition may have a TruSkin Age® of 29, or vice versa. This tool provides us with an amazing metric to guide the selection of skin care products and treatments.
What does the VISIA® Skin Analysis look for?
Typically brown or red skin marks, noticeable by their distinct color and contrast from the skin tone. These spots can vary in size and shape and are normally visible to the naked eye.
Furrows, folds or creases in the skin that can increase as a result of sun exposure. Wrinkles are caused as the skin loses elasticity, and loses the ability to bounce back after repetitive facial movements. These fold in the skin can be caused by many other reasons including smoking, chronic dehydration and ultraviolet light.
Raised and depressed areas that indicate variations on the skins surface that affects the skins smoothness.
Circular surface openings of sweat duct glands. Due to shadowing, enlarged pores may appear slightly darker than the surrounding skin tone and are identified by their color and shape.
The absorption of UV light by epidermal melanin just below the skin surface results in the display and detection of UV spots that are a result of sun damage. UV spots cannot be detected by the naked eye.
Pigmentation and discoloration on and beneath the surface of the skin. When there is a surplus of melanin produced by melanocytes in skin, the brown spots appear. They can appear as freckles, areas of hyperpigmentation, and melasma.
Concentrated darker red areas, which may be related to a variety of conditions such as inflammation, rosacea, and spider veins.
Bacterial excretions that can become lodged in pores.
