Ultherapy® is the first treatment that tightens and lifts the skin to create the only FDA-approved, non-surgical brow, neck, décolleté, and/or face lift in under two hours. Ultherapy is performed in our office here at In My Own Skin Med Spa.
What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is micro-focused ultrasound energy that that is transmitted through a handheld device to target the layer just below the skin where collagen growth occurs. The other, more superficial layers of the skin are not affected by this ultrasound energy, therefore leaving them unharmed and fully intact. By targeting the deeper layer, the body’s own immune system will stimulate a healing response with new collagen growth, which will improve tightness and the overall skin appearance. The most commonly treated areas are the brow, neck and under the chin.

What should I expect from my treatment?
Ultherapy® procedures last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Dr. Burgess asks her patients to take 800mg of Ibuprofen one to two hours prior to their procedure. Ultrasound gel is applied to the area being treated, and the ultrasound hand piece is applied to the treatment area on top of the gel before the ultrasound energy is transmitted. After the procedure, there is no downtime, and patients may immediately return to their daily activities.
Directly following the procedure, the area being treated may appear slightly flushed and some mild to severe bruising and/or swelling may occur. The treated area may be sore to touch for about two weeks. Ultimate results will occur during the following two to three months after this treatment, and will continue to improve for up to six months. Most patients only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment (depending on the amount of skin laxity and the patient’s own biological response to this treatment). Dr. Burgess will be able to recommend the right treatment plan for each patient’s needs. Future touch-up treatments can help maintain the aging process, which varies by patient. Some patients have reported results lasting for greater than one year.
Dr. Burgess is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon, and has chosen to use this new technology in her Lake Oswego clinic because of the strong research and results found with this technique! One of our providers will be able to customize a treatment plan specific to each patient and their facial anatomy to be sure they are receiving the best results. Ultherapy® has been reported very effective at providing patients with positive results of skin tightening and lifting. For patients that are not quite ready to undergo a surgical procedure for facial options, Ultherapy® has been a great alternative.
